What is MUN?
The
MUN is a meeting of students from around the world, recognized by the
United Nations. The students meet, as do the United Nations, in
representation of a country and are expected to defend that country’s
policies while speaking, discussing and debating about current
peacekeeping issues.

For the first time ever, ASLP had a press delegate. Nikita Bhavnani worked in the layout department, preparing the page set up for conference journalists. She had to learn how to use new software on the spot and meet strict deadlines. “Many times I didn’t receive the articles until 3:00 p.m. and my deadline was at 6:00 pm.” Nikita was always the first delegate from ASLP at the conference center, anxiously selling copies of MUNITY!
Welcome to the world of journalism!

Youth Assembly meets during the same week as THIMUN and gathers together students ages 16-25 to discuss and write action papers on issues that affect young adults all over the world. This year, two ASLP 11th grade students, Sul Gi Kweon and Min Kyung Jeong were accepted to Committees of Substance Abuse and Gender Equality. The first two days were spent brainstorming, the second two days were spent writing the action paper and the last day was spent presenting short skits on each of the issues. The meetings are more intimate and productive but require more maturity and individual participation.
