Overview

The American School of Las Palmas (ASLP) is located on two campuses. With more than 400 students, the main campus, located in the picturesque Marzagan valley overlooking the Atlantic Ocean (15 minutes from Las Palmas), consists of one large two-story building with 12 classrooms including a purpose built science lab, and an attached cafeteria; six unique white domes house the elementary classrooms, two libraries, computer lab, art and music rooms; a separate preschool building with four classrooms and support areas; and four recently restored Canarian homes (nearly 300 years old) are located on Cactus Hill are used as administrative office.

Five years ago, ASLP opened a second campus in the historical Ciudad Jardin housing district. It currently serves as a day care center, preschool, and English Language Institute for nearly 100 children.

ASLP is recognized as a foreign (American) system school by the Spanish Government. Due to the variety of the students' backgrounds, a combined American-Spanish (European) program is offered that prepares the students for entry into American, Spanish and British universities. The school’s High School Program (Standard Diploma) is accepted as the equivalent of a Spanish "Bachillerato" diploma.

ASLP is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC). The school is a member of the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS) and the English Speaking Canary Islands Schools association (ESCIS).
