The cultural exchange at ASLP of the past two weeks with the students and staff from Camden Hills Regional High School from Maine has been a success. The 11 students and two staff members came to Gran Canaria with the objectives of improving their Spanish, getting to know our culture and to experience going to a different school and living with a family abroad.

Since they arrived at the airport, the students from ASLP and Maine have hardly paused for a break. It has been an intensive two weeks for all. They have visited the Caldera of Bandama and the pre-historic caves, Las Palmas and the historic part of Vegueta, gone to ride the camels and see the dunes of Maspalomas, tried water sports like surfing, gone to classes at ASLP and have tried our Canarian dishes. In these weeks, both students and staff have had great and enriching experiences. When the students return to Maine, our students, staff and families will surely miss them!

This is the second time we have participated in the exchange with Camden Hills Regional High School (the first time was in the school year (2013-14). In October of this year, ASLP students will be travelling to Maine for two weeks to experience living with a family abroad, experiencing the culture of the US, improving their English and going to a high school in the US.
